(Buffalo, NY): What started as a small donation to Make-A-Wish of Western New York 6 years ago, has now evolved into one of Buffalo’s Largest Charity Halloween Parties.
Stone’s Buddies is an Oishei Children’s Hospital program that supports families coping with chronic and life-threatening illness. Created in memory of former patient Stone Filipovich, the mission of the program is to provide a network of resources, support, friendship and fun for the many “frequent flyers” that regularly use our institution. This program is for children with life-threatening illness, as well as the patients who struggle daily with special needs and feelings of isolation due to the nature of their chronic illness.
Make-A-Wish® Western New York is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Founded in 1993, their chapter serves children in the 17 counties surrounding the Buffalo and Rochester areas. Since their inception, they have granted the wishes of more than 3,000 children from our community.
Frightworld, Stone’s Buddies and Make-A-Wish have joined together to throw the ultimate Halloween Party for the families of these programs. Through several donations from community business’s such as Frightworld and Just Pizza on Niagara Falls Blvd in Amherst, the event has grown to a highly anticipated event for both 501c3 organizations.
Families from both organizations can attend Frightworld on October 19 2019 from 11am – 2pm and enjoy several free activities such as:
- Pizza and drinks
- Trick-or-Treating
- Photo-Op area’s with costume characters
- Pumpkins for each family
- Coloring stations
- Goodie bags
- Cookie Decorating Station
All of this is possible with an extraordinary amount of effort from Frightworld and their supportive network of other local businesses. “This is the one event that holds a special little place in our heart and every year we try to add a little more to the event for the kids,” says Stephen Szortyka, General Manager and Director of Operations for Frightworld.
